Why do so many truck drivers stay with the Clark family?
Orlando started driving with Clark in October of 1995 after being referred by another driver. Recently, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Orlando Castro, a 17+ year family member of Clark, and had the chance to talk with him about his time at Clark.
What keeps you here? Economy is global, so if Clark is slow then so is everyone else. It’s a cycle up and down. It’s not worth it to move from company to company when they are all basically the same. I have never had any problems with my pay checks and the rates for hauling freight are the same or better than most other companies. Mainly though, Clark is a good family for me. It gave me a chance to raise my kids the way I wanted to.
Why is Clark better? The people who run the company are interested in getting more work to keep us busy and from the very beginning I've felt like part of the family and that Clark takes care of their drivers. It’s also not difficult to talk to managers or office people. No closed doors.
Tell us a cool driving story. I was dispatched about 10 years ago to a location in Orange at a plant for a week that I was required to stay in my truck at all times to be available for anything that needed to be moved and only ended up doing one or two moves and sometimes nothing for the day and was still paid the whole time…even to sleep.
Drivers like Orlando help to make Clark one of the best companies around. We are proud to have Orlando as part of the family and thank him for his dedication.
