Eligibility requirements for Company Drivers
- All driver applicants to be a minimum of 24 years of age, and have a minimum of 3 years verifiable driving experience. (Sec. 391.11(b)(1))
- Class A CDL
- Qualifiable MVR
- Current DOT Physical, must pass drug screen
- 10 years work history -- last 3 years verified
Required Driving Record
- Only those driver applicants with 2 or fewer chargeable motor vehicle accidents within the past 3 years will be considered for employment / lease. Because of our commitment to safety, the company will not consider driver applicants who fail to meet the above standards.
- Only those driver applicants with 3 or fewer violations of motor vehicle laws (other than violations involving parking only) within the past 3 years will be considered for employment / lease. An applicant who has incurred more violations than the above standard has demonstrated a pattern of unsafe driving behavior which Clark Freight Lines Inc. finds unacceptable in any prospective driver associate. (Secs. 383.51, 391.15, and 391.23)
- Employment / lease of a driver will not be considered if the applicant has been convicted of any careless or reckless driving of a motor vehicle offense within the past 10 years. Drivers convicted of operating a motor vehicle with willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or properties are considered to be unsafe by the company. This kind of behavior is unacceptable in any prospective Clark Freight Lines Inc. driver. (Secs. 383.5 and 391.15)
- Employment / lease of a driver will not be considered if the applicant has been convicted of a criminal offense involving a commercial vehicle, including operating while under the influence of a controlled substance, transporting a controlled substance, or a felony involving the use of a commercial motor vehicle. (Secs. 383.51 and 391.15)
Other Requirements
- Clark Freight Lines Inc. has a no tolerance policy regarding drug and alcohol related incidents and will not consider for employment / lease, any driver applicant convicted of any offense involving the operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol.
- Drivers will be expected to converse with other company employees, our customers, and the general public. Therefore, Clark Freight Lines Inc. requires all driver applicants to be able to read and speak English sufficiently to be able to perform all duties and functions of the job. (Secs. 391.15(b)(2))
- Applicants will also be required, because of experience, training, or both, to be able to:
- Safely operate a Clark Freight Lines Inc. Vehicle
- Determine and Execute proper cargo securement procedures.
- Although it is not required, it is highly encouraged that All driver applicants possess a Hazardous Materials Endorsement (H) and a Tank Endorsement (N), or both (X) on their driver’s license. All drivers must keep their Hazardous Materials Endorsement (N).
- All driver applicants must not have any restrictions that limit them to Intra- State only (Restriction M).
Many drivers cannot pass these requirements; our standards are high and make reruitment difficult. Only the best belong at Clark Freight Lines Inc. We hope you understand. Without professional drivers, we cannot provide our customers with the level of service they have come to demand from us.
Our Equipment
Our tractor fleet is made up of, conventional, air-ride Kenworth T-600's. There is no slip-seating. All tractors are high rise sleepers with 13 speed transmissions. Tractors are equipped with jake brakes. Average tractor age is under two years. Heated/power mirrors, custom interiors and power windows are standard. Most engines generate 427-450 hp at 2100 rpm. Cruise control is standard.
- Tractors are equipped with AM/FM cd radios with CB hookups.
